What buyers should also check
IP rating is only one part of outdoor readiness. Also evaluate connectors, cable entry, drainage, corrosion protection, operating temperature, mounting, transport and the manufacturer's installation requirements.

DMX512, RDM, Art-Net & sACN
Professional lighting systems use several control layers. Understanding the difference helps prevent compatibility problems when fixtures are integrated into a console or network.
DMX512
A widely used lighting-control protocol for sending fixture parameters such as dimmer, color, pan/tilt, zoom and effects.
RDM
Remote Device Management adds two-way communication to compatible DMX systems, allowing supported controllers to communicate with fixtures and retrieve or configure device information.
Art-Net & sACN
Both can distribute lighting-control data over Ethernet networks and are useful when a system grows beyond traditional point-to-point DMX cabling.

Pixel Control & Pixel Mapping
Pixel technology divides a fixture into independently controllable LEDs or zones. Instead of changing the entire fixture as one output, the controller can create spatial effects across the fixture.
Typical effects

- Gradients and color waves
- Segmented dimming
- Patterns and pixel-mapped content
- Media-server-driven visual effects
Pixel count versus control zones
A fixture can contain many LED emitters but group them into fewer independently controlled zones. Always check both the physical LED arrangement and the actual DMX/control architecture.

LED Color Systems
The LED color engine determines how a fixture produces white and saturated colors. Different systems are optimized for different visual priorities.
RGBW
Red, green, blue and white channels provide saturated color plus a dedicated white source. Common in stage wash and creative lighting.
RGBL
A red, green, blue and lime architecture can broaden color-mixing capability and support high-quality white-light production in suitable fixtures.
BiColor
Warm and cool white channels allow adjustable white color temperature and are particularly useful for studio, broadcast, theatre and conference environments.

Optics, Beam Angle & Zoom
Optics determine how efficiently the LED engine turns electrical input into useful illumination for the target area.
Beam angle
A narrower beam concentrates light over a smaller area, while a wider beam provides broader coverage. The correct angle depends on throw distance, target size and required intensity.
Zoom
A zoom system allows the beam spread to change. This can make one fixture more flexible for different distances and roles.
Projection and diffusion
Frost, gobo, prism and projection optics can change the visual distribution of light and create defined patterns or softer coverage depending on the fixture.

Theatre, Studio & Cyclorama Technology
Theatre and camera environments often need controlled, repeatable light rather than only maximum output.
Fresnel
Useful for soft-edged, controllable stage coverage and key/fill lighting.
Profile
Useful when a defined beam, focus and shaped stage coverage are required.
Soft panel
Useful for broad, soft face lighting in studios, interviews, corporate AV and other camera-facing environments.
Cyclorama
Designed for even background or cyc illumination and smooth color/background changes.

LED Video Wall Technology
An LED video wall is a modular display system made from LED modules, cabinets and electronic control components. Its performance should be evaluated as a complete system.
Pixel pitch
Pixel pitch is the distance between adjacent LED pixels. Smaller pitch generally supports closer viewing and finer image detail, but can increase system cost.
Viewing distance
Choose pitch according to the normal audience or camera distance, screen size and content requirements rather than choosing the smallest available pitch automatically.
Rental versus fixed cabinet
Rental systems prioritize repeated transport and rapid assembly, while fixed systems prioritize structural integration and long-term installation.
